Sciton · Aesthetic Lasers · $45,000 – $80,000
You're looking at $45–$80K used depending on total handpiece hours and whether the last clinic actually serviced the cooling system. A machine with under 200,000 cumulative handpiece hours will sit at the higher end; anything over 400,000 hours needs a realistic handpiece replacement budgeted at purchase.
Fire it up and run a test pulse on the sapphire cooling window - watch for water flow hesitation, which means the cooling loop is partially blocked. Check if the footswitch clicks cleanly and doesn't stick; these wear fast. Pull service logs back 2–3 years; if there's a 6+ month gap between calibrations, someone wasn't maintaining it right.
Southern California and South Florida clinics are snapping these up because summer photoaging and sun damage treatments peak March–October. Ideal Image locations in Phoenix and Austin are also moving units because the patient volume there justifies the capital spend.

No. BBL Hero is IPL, not Q-switched laser. It's for skin tone, rosacea, hair removal, and vascular stuff. If you need tattoo removal, you're looking at a different Sciton model or a Lumenis Q-Plus. Don't try to shoehorn it into that box.
Minimal to none on lighter skin. Dark skin or aggressive settings? Expect erythema for 2–4 hours, maybe some temporary hyperpigmentation in the treatment zone. Sunscreen non-negotiable. If you're running a medical spa, that's your patient education piece.
Get a 20-amp dedicated line. The Hero pulls about 1,800 watts under load. Plug it into a daisy-chained outlet in a shared circuit and it'll either trip breakers constantly or damage the capacitor bank. Not worth the $300 you save by skipping the electrician.

I can get you connected to a Sciton service tech in your region who'll do a full pre-delivery checkout for $400–$600 instead of you buying a lemon and paying $3K to fix it later. That's time saved and risk killed before money changes hands.
